New Year, New Plans, Part-time
Some avid readers may recall that I might have said “never again” to 100 milers. The reason that I’m able to spend more time trainng for them now is that I’ve gone part-time at work.
Unforunately the direction of travel with Parkinson’s is downhill, and stress exacerbates quite a few symptoms if not the progression of the disease itself. So with the massive support of my co-director I have reduced my work days which should alleviate a significant proportion of that stress.
I’m not spending the extra time idly though. Exercise is the only thing so far which has been shown to slow the progression of the disease, so I am going to be running, climbing, cycling, going to the gym and anything else I can find which will help in the fight.
The rough plan at the moment is to work on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays (being a “TWaT”) and run (and whatever else I can fit in) on Mondays and Fridays. So if anyone wants to join me on those days then drop me a message.
Oh, and I’ve added another 100 miler to the list (details in the “latest fundraising” page) as I’m easily led…
